Vienna U-Bahn route planner
Pick an origin and a destination station — the route planner shows the fastest connection, the journey time, the changes and the ticket you need.
From station to station: the fastest connection
The route planner finds the fastest connection between the 99 stations of the five U-Bahn lines U1, U2, U3, U4 and U6. Unlike in many other cities, the fare in Vienna does not depend on distance or on the number of changes: a single ticket for €3.20 (€3.00 digital) covers the whole journey — changes included — as long as you travel in one direction and do not interrupt the trip.
Tips for planning your route
Changing lines costs nothing extra
The single ticket (€3.20, digital €3.00) is valid for one journey in one direction, including every change — between U-Bahn, tram and bus as well. All fares are on the Tickets & prices page.
Trains every 2–5 minutes
During the day trains run every 2–5 minutes, in the evening every 7–8 minutes. The result adds 4 minutes for each change; the walk to the station is not included and you should add it yourself.
Short walks — but not everywhere
At Karlsplatz, Landstraße or Praterstern several lines meet, and the change takes a bit longer than the calculated minutes because the platforms are far apart. The network map shows every interchange station.
Check for engineering works
During partial closures or replacement services the calculated route may not apply. Current alerts are on the opening hours page and in the WienMobil app.
Frequently asked questions about the route planner
Choose the origin and the destination station above: the route planner works out the fastest connection across the five U-Bahn lines and shows which line to take, where to change and how many stations each leg has.
No. In Vienna a single ticket for €3.20 (€3.00 digital) covers the whole journey — including every change, also between U-Bahn, tram, bus and S-Bahn inside the Vienna core zone. The condition is that you travel in one direction and do not interrupt the trip.
It is a good guide value. It is calculated from the average time per station on each line plus about 4 minutes per change. It does not include the walk to and from the station, nor the longer waiting times late in the evening, when trains run only every 7–8 minutes.
The 24-hour ticket costs €10.20 (€9.70 digital) — from the fourth journey in a day it is cheaper than four single tickets. If you stay longer, take the weekly pass (€28.90) or the 31-day pass (€75.00).
No. The U5 is not in service yet — it is still under construction and the opening is now planned for 2030. The route planner uses the five lines that run today: U1, U2, U3, U4 and U6.
No, it uses the regular network. During partial closures and replacement services — for example track works in summer — the calculated route can differ. Current restrictions are listed on the opening hours page and in the WienMobil app.
